Can I nickel plate aluminium in GALWAH ?
We do not make aluminium nickel-plating since the manufacturing process in such case requires a different surface treatment preparation before nickel-plating as compared to the surface preparation applied in our nickel-plating process. We also inform that we know the aluminium nickel plating process and if customers are very interested in it, we are ready to implement this technology.
Do you perform in-house corrosion resistance tests in a salt spray chamber ?
Yes, we carry out such test in a salt spray chamber, but only according to the DIN 50021 standard, for we have only one test station. However, be advised that we are ready to introduce new tests in a salt spray chamber if a new contract agreement requires so.
Does your plating shop make passivated coatings without using harmful chemical compounds ?
At present, due to industrial requirements that advise not to use zinc coatings and zinc-alloy Cr6+ compounds when passivating, we have purchased the technologies that apply only Cr3+ compounds. The use of chromium plating only with Cr3+ compounds and securing corrosion protection for coatings as used in Cr6+ compounds requires more costly components and additional coating sealing, which generates extra costs.
I want to make a part according to the drawing, where a coating with the Zn8/C/Fe symbol is marked. Can you produce it in your plating shop ?
Likely so, but we must know the number of the standard, where such coating symbols are used. Different standards specify the thickness and type of applied coatings differently including their surface quality (gloss) and in the case of passivated coatings, also colour and passivation corrosion resistance to salt mist. Standards specify also if Cr6+ can be used to produce a passivation coating and if this chromium can be present in such coating. For this reason, a customer must define the standard and symbol of a coating on the part to be produced.
Can you nickel plate products made of zinc and aluminium alloys ?
Yes, we apply coatings onto zinc and aluminium, but before we do that, we must know the composition of the metal alloy, since not all alloys can be coated hassle-free.
Are parts plated with glossy brass lacquered to protect them from darkening ?
We do not lacquer parts brass-plated as glossy. We only passivate coatings during chromium plating to protect brass shortly against oxidisation spots. We recommend resining with the electrophoresis technology as an alternative to glossy brass plating. This technology ensures constant coating colour regardless its functional conditions and does not require any further protection against oxidisation.
